Now that Ohio State football players participated in the drills at the NFL Combine and displayed their skills at Pro Day how many will be first round picks?
There is no doubt you will hear Ohio State football player’s names called out on Day 1 of the NFL Draft. It’s just a matter of how many.
The biggest surprise of the day would be if defensive end Nick Bosa’s name wasn’t called in the first three picks. And quarterback Dwayne Haskins is guaranteed to be a high pick as well.
But are there other Buckeyes who will be chosen in the first round?
Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors listed the different mock drafts who had Ohio State players on their board. I’ll use Mr. Hope’s info to look at players besides Bosa and Haskins who may be chosen in round one.
This one may come as a surprise.
Following the season I think most had Terry McLaurin as around a third round pick even though he had 35 receptions for 701 yards (20.0 ypc) and 11 touchdowns. Things have certainly changed since then.

During Senior Bowl practices he impressed pro scouts and then ran 4.35 in the 40 at the Combine. He is now being thought of by some as a potential first round pick.
Only one mock draft has Dre’Mont Jones going in the first round while others have him being chosen in the second. This is a tough call. Whether Jones is drafted in the late first or early second round will probably be determined by needs of teams with draft choices in the 30-40 range.
Now for the ringer.
No mock draft Mr. Hope listed has Parris Campbell going in the first round. I will be surprised if he doesn’t.
Some white-knuckled general manager will be thinking about his 90 catches for 1,063 yards and 12 touchdowns. And of course his 4.31 time in the 40 at the Combine. He will pull the trigger on Campbell on Day 1 so he won’t come across as a fool years later when he is a star in the NFL.
I think there will be at least three Ohio State football players chosen in the NFL Draft. Don’t be surprised if there is at least one more.
