Ohio State Basketball: Will either the Buckeyes or Wildcats score 60?
Anybody interested in watching a high scoring basketball game tonight may want to search the channels to find one other than Ohio State vs. Northwestern. There is a good chance if one team can score 60 points they will pull off the win.
You shouldn’t expect to see a high scoring affair when Ohio State faces Northwestern tonight. To say offensive performances by the Buckeyes and Wildcats were less than stellar over the last half-dozen games would be an understatement.
Northwestern is on a six game losing streak and have only scored 60 points or more one time during that stretch, an 80-79 loss to Iowa. The Wildcats have only scored as many as 56 points one time in the other five games.
During the losing streak they have averaged 55.8 points per game.
Ohio State has scored more than 60 points in a game just twice in the last six games. The 56 points in the loss to Illinois was the highest output in the other four, and two times the Buckeyes have failed to score 50.
Their scoring average during that stretch, 58.5 points per game.
Here is a look at players who will attempt to get their team out of the scoring slump.

Northwestern is led in scoring by Vic Law who is averaging 15.5 points per game, Dererk Pardon 13.6 and Ryan Taylor 11.1. A.J. Turner and Anthony Gaines are adding 8.3 and 6.7 points per game respectively.
Ohio State only has two players averaging double figures. Kaleb Wesson is scoring 14.4 points per game and C.J. Jackson 12. Luther Muhammad (9.5 ppg) and Andre Wesson (8.8) are capable scorers as well.
It would be a good idea for the Buckeyes to find their offense if they have any hope of making the NCAA Tournament. Four of the final five games on Ohio State’s schedule is against ranked teams with the only other a rematch against Northwestern on the road.
Tonight’s game will be played in the Schottenstein Center with the tip-off scheduled for 8:30. Don’t expect it to be an up and down game with both teams scoring at least 80 points. But if the Buckeyes are still in the hunt for a tournament bid after the game, who cares?
