The 2021 Ohio State recruiting class began with a bang as Ryan Day landed a highly ranked DE and the head coach finished his 2019 class on a high note as well.

Three days ago head coach Ryan Day started his 2021 recruiting class with a bang when the No. 1 ranked defensive end in the country Jack Sawyer committed to play for Ohio State. Today he finished his 2019 class with two coveted recruits.

Four-star offensive linemen Enokk Vimahi and three-star offensive tackle Dawand Jones chose to play for the Buckeyes. These two players were the icing on the cake for this year’s small but talented class.

Vimahi is the No. 7 guard in the 2019 class and is ranked as the No. 124 player overall. He must be a tough guy who isn’t afraid of challenges. Vimahi is leaving Hawaii to battle Ohio winters.

Jones may not be highly ranked but he has an attribute you can’t teach, size. He stands 6-8 and weighs 360 pounds.

Jones may be a project but that could be said about most offensive linemen when they join the Ohio State football program. A year in coach Mickey Morati’s strength and conditioning program will probably get Jones down to an acceptable playing weight.

Ohio State’s recruiting class is ranked No. 14 which is the lowest ranking in almost a decade. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good one.

There was a scholarship crunch this year so there are only 17 players in the class. Ohio State’s player average of 91.87 in the 247Sports Composite is the third best behind only Alabama and Georgia.

It really is a nice class with talented players on both sides of the ball. Here is a list of the newest Buckeyes.

The 2019 Ohio State recruiting class is a talented one but only time will tell if it turns out to be good one. However, I think coach Ryan Day expects that will be the case and has to be pleased with the group of players in his first class.
