Ohio State Football: Buckeyes will have a talented receiver unit again
Even though three outstanding players from the receiving corps are moving on the unit should once again be a strength of the Ohio State football team.
When K.J. Hill decided to come back to play for Ohio State one more season it solidified the fact Brian Hartline would once again have an outstanding receiving corps. There would have been plenty of talented receivers on the roster for coach Hartline to work with if Hill hadn’t decided to return, but having a proven veteran will make the unit even better.
Let’s take a look at what the senior brings to the table.
Last season Hill improved in every statistical category. He caught 70 passes for 885 yards and 6 touchdowns, and that was while sharing reps at H-back with Parris Campbell.

He will probably be backed up by redshirt freshman Jaelen Gill. Like Campbell was early on, Gill is a work in progress but he was the No. 2 all-purpose back in the 2018 recruiting class.
Austin Mack was having a fine 2018 season with 26 receptions for 331 yards until he was injured in the eighth game of the season. He should be back and ready to play and will be a big asset.
Binjimen Victor will be back after catching 21 passes for 354 yards and 4 touchdowns. His yards per catch increased to 16.9 last season and he has a knack for making a big play.
Here are young players to keep your eye on.
Cris Olave came on strong at the end of the season as a true freshman. He had 7 receptions for 197 yards and 3 key touchdowns.
Jaylen Harris is a big wide receiver who was a coveted recruit in the 2017 class. He may just be ready to break out.
Garrett Wilson is a five-star recruit in this year’s class, and if you watched the All-American Bowl you understand why he reached that status. I can’t wait to watch this kid.
There is plenty of talent in the receiving unit with a good mix of veterans and young talent. Coach Hartline has a great bunch to work with and it looks like they will once again be a strength on the Ohio State football team.
