2012 Stats: 114 Total Tackles (69 Solo), 17.0 Tackles For Loss, 5.0 Sacks, 10 Pass Breakups, 3 Forced Fumbles, 1 Interception (TD).
Ryan Shazier was one of the Buckeyes biggest “IT” factors on defense this decade leading the team in tackles, and tackles for loss in 2012. Shazier posted double-digit tackle numbers in only 6 games but averaged 9.5 stops per contest. One of his signature games was a 12 tackle, 3.0 TFL and 1 forced fumble outing against Wisconsin, a 21-14 victory.

Joey Bosa was a star for the Ohio State defense which led to him eventually being a top 5 pick in the 2016 NFL draft. In 2014, Bosa introduced himself to the CFB world forcing 4 fumbles and recording 13.5 sacks coming one sack shy of breaking the school record for QB take downs in a season set by Vernon Gholston in 2007.
Bosa posted 2.0+ sacks in 3 games in the fall of 2014, including a monster performance vs Michigan. The Florida native posted 3 tackles, 2.0 for loss, 2.0 for sacks, a pass breakup and a forced fumble.
For his outstanding performance that season Bosa was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of Year and earned first team All-American honors.
8. 2016 | Malik Hooker Morphs Into a Ball Hawk
2016 Stats: 74 Tackles (43 Solo), 5.5 Tackles For Loss, 0.5 Sacks, 4 Pass Breakups, 7 Interceptions, 3 Pick Six’s
Malik Hooker was one of four Buckeye DBs on the 2016 roster that ended up being a future first round NFL draft pick. Hooker was one of OSU’s leaders on a strong and talented defensive unit as he piled up seven Interceptions, taking three of them back for touchdowns, including one in the Buckeyes overtime win against Michigan.

Hooker did more than just snag passes away from opposing QBs as he also racked up 74 tackles, with 14 coming against Northwestern in a 24-20 victory.
