Minnesota is a Big Ten team flying under the radar to start the season but has had wins over Utah, Texas A&M and Washington. The last win against Washington came thanks to a three pointer made with 2.1 seconds left by Gabe Kalschuer to put the Golden Gophers up by 2.

This is a team that was supposed to be good last season but got decimated by injuries early. Richard Petino has constructed a team this season that can compete with the top tier of the Big Ten.

We will find out just how good Maryland is when they play Virginia on Wednesday, but for right now they look to be a very solid basketball team. Maryland’s last victory came over a Marshall team that made the NCAA Tournament last season and competed with West Virginia in their first round match up.

The Terrapins blew the Thundering Herd out of the water scoring 104 points to Marshall’s 64. Maryland could be back on the rise in the college basketball scene after a rather disappointing season last year.
