Ohio State Football: Buckeyes’ season starts November 3rd
Since before fall camp began it has been a roller coaster ride for the Ohio State football team and now the CFP Committee has the Buckeyes ranked No. 10.
The Ohio State football season has been one to remember, and it’s not even over yet.
I can’t remember a season as peculiar as this one. Between the Zack Smith saga, Urban Meyer’s suspension, Dwayne Haskins on the verge of breaking every single season passing record, not being able to run, not being able to stop any opponent, Meyer’s health and another epic 29-point loss, the Buckeyes season has been erratic.
On top of that, the College Football Playoff Invitational Committee found it in its collective wisdom to rank Ohio State No. 10 in its initial poll.
Part of me thinks the committee is delusional. Have they watched this team over the last three games? There are FCS teams who would have given the Buckeyes a run for their money.
Then I realize this is just an exercise for the next five weeks until the Committee will rank the four teams it wants in the playoff.
Positioning in the Top 10 means nothing right now. The only thing that matters is not having a second loss.
I know this may offend UCF and its fan base, but West Virginia is the one team outside of the Top 10 that can legitimately make the playoff, and I think even that is a longshot. The remaining teams are jockeying for meaningless bowl games.

Ohio State has five games to make its case. The Buckeyes must erase the memories of October, all season for the defense, and prove they are one of the four best teams.
Right now, they only have one game remaining against a team in the Top 25.
There is a chance Ohio State could face Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game, but given the chaos in the West, nothing is given.
There is also a chance that only three teams in front of the Buckeyes will fall.
This means Ohio State needs to decisively beat Nebraska, Michigan State and Maryland as well as beat Michigan and whoever it plays in the Championship game.
It might not be enough to just win out if Notre Dame, Washington State and Oklahoma win out too.
The Buckeyes have the talent to run the table. If they do, that will be an exclamation point on a wild rollercoaster of a season.
