8. UCF

Rank Last Week: 9

Week 9 Result: Win @ East Carolina 37-10

Upcoming Week: Bye

UCF is currently enjoying a run of 20 straight victories after defeating East Carolina by a score of 37-10 last week to bring their record this season up to 7-0. Interesting fact with this game though is that UCF trailed ECU at the end of the game in the total yards department, but five Pirate turnovers compared to none for UCF proved to be the difference in this game.

But, the fact that UCF showed some holes against a 2-5 East Carolina team previews the fact that this team could be in for a tough one against their next opponent, Temple. The Owls are the only other 4-0 team in the American Athletic Conference.

Luckily for Central Florida, they get to play Temple at home after a bye week so they have a good chance of sewing up some of those holes.

7. Texas

Rank Last Week: 8

Week 9 Result: Bye

Upcoming Week: Away @ Oklahoma State

Texas got a needed rest after a close win over Baylor in what was almost a let down game after their biggest win in recent memory over Oklahoma. Now it’s on to face an Oklahoma State team that has struggled mightily in the Big 12 this year going 1-3 to start conference play.

Texas fans will likely view this one as a tune up before they get West Virginia at home in another game that will greatly decide the fate of the Big 12 Conference.

While its easy to look ahead to the Mountaineers, the Longhorns should still focus on the Cowboys who ranks 18th best in the nation in scoring as well as 22nd in passing offense. Especially when the Texas pass defense is ranked 72nd in the nation.
