Ohio State Football: Buckeyes No. 2 and only 7 SEC teams ranked?
Even though the Ohio State football team struggled Saturday they moved to No. 2 in the week’s AP Poll and only 7 SEC teams are ranked in the top 25.
Once again the Ohio State football team was in a battle for three quarters Saturday before pulling out the win. The Buckeyes still moved up to No. 2 in this week’s AP Poll despite the not so impressive win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
This week the voters credited top ten teams for simply winning. Four didn’t and the other five failed to cover the spread.
Alabama retained the No. 1 spot, UCF stayed at No. 10 while Ohio State, Notre Dame and Texas moved up in the rankings. Clemson also moved up to No. 3 by having the week off.
Upsets happen every year at this time. You just don’t know what to expect when conference races heat up in October. Oh I forgot, you can always expect there will be plenty of Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the top 25.
There are only seven SEC teams ranked in the Week 8 poll, down one from last week. The Big Ten now has six teams in the top 25.
The ACC has certainly fallen out of favor with the voters. The last couple of years many thought the conference might be the best in the country but that’s not the case now.
Only two ACC teams are ranked while the American Conference, Big 12 and Pac 12 each have three. Of course Notre Dame is an independent.

You can expect plenty of changes in the rankings in next week and it’s hard to say if there will be seven SEC teams in the top 25. The lowest ranked conference team, Mississippi State, has to go on the road to play LSU next Saturday.
