There is a future star in the making on this year’s Ohio State football team. Quarterback Tate Martell is showing Buckeye fans why he was such a prized recruit.

With the way Dwayne Haskins has taken over the spotlight on this year’s Ohio State football team, it could be easy to see that he could be leaving next year for the NFL. That being said, Tate Martell looks to be the future for the Buckeyes.

With flashes of greatness, Martell has given fans something to look forward to when Haskins declares for the NFL. Coming into Ohio State, Martell was highly recruited, and so far he hasn’t seen the playing field much, but he could very easily be the starting quarterback at most colleges across the country.

Tate Martell is much like the previous dual-threat quarterbacks Urban Myer has had. He is exceptionally fast and shifty.

His passing ability isn’t something we have seen too much of so far but he has been very efficient throwing the football when he had his opportunities.  Against Rutgers, he was 10/10 for 121 yards and a touchdown.

The TD pass was a 51-yard completion that showed off his arm strength. As the season progresses we will only see him in limited play. But don’t be surprised if he is used on special packages as the season wears on.

Martell fits the mold of a player who could thrive in coach Meyer’s offense due to the type of quarterbacks he has had in the past. And when the time comes for him to make an impact in a game, we will have no doubt that he will step up and be bigger than the moment.

Urban Meyer recruits players who are proven winners and can step up to the moment when needed. Players who are elite and have winning mentalities.

Martell fits the bill there. As a senior in high school, he led his team to a 15-0 record and Bishop Gorman was named the High School National Champions. As long as Urban Meyer is the head coach at Ohio State we will always see high-caliber players performing at a high level.
