Ohio State Football: Buckeyes pull away from Hoosiers 49-26
By Alex Shobe
The Ohio State football team won a hard-fought game at the Horseshoe. The offense looked strong again despite a few sputtering drives.
The Ohio State football team claimed a 49-26 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers at the Horseshoe. The Buckeyes showed some vulnerability on both sides of the ball at times, but they took off with the game in the fourth quarter. They scored 14 unanswered points to put the Hoosiers to bed.
One of those vulnerabilities was against heavy pressure. Dwayne Haskins‘ pair of interceptions thrown, which doubled his season total, were the result of the quarterback taking a hit mid-throwing motion. At times, he was unable to cope with the offensive line being beaten.
Haskins didn’t let the picks hang over his head. He threw the ball for a season-high six touchdown passes, adding another 453 yards to his account for the year.
The last scoring pass was arguably the best placed ball that Haskins has thrown this season. He placed it directly into Benjamin Victor’s hands just a step before the end line and over a tight defender.

Another notable scoring play was a 71 yard pass to Parris Campbell in open space. Campbell caught the pass just beyond his own 30 yard line with no defender in his neighborhood. He easily walked into the end zone upright.
On defense, the Buckeyes came up with important stops when they needed them. They stopped the Hoosiers on fourth down two of the three times they were faced with such a situation.
The defensive backs showed improvement over recent weeks. They were getting their heads turned around on tight coverage more often, risking fewer pass interference calls.
Penalties were again a problem. The Buckeyes committed nine infractions for 82 yards. A team with more talent could really make them pay for that carelessness. They will need to tighten their play up moving forward if they are going to win late in the season.
