The brightest star among Ohio State football players in the NFL at the moment is Ezekiel Elliott. I’ll break down his performance in week 4.

Former Ohio State football star Ezekiel Elliott is the player in the spotlight for this week’s review of Buckeyes in the NFL. The Cowboys running back helped his team secure a much-needed victory over the Detroit Lions this weekend.

Elliott rushed for 152 yards on 25 carries, a 6.1 yard average, and that includes an impressive 41 yard run. He didn’t score on the ground Sunday but he undoubtably helped the Cowboys keep drives alive down the stretch.

Arguably his biggest influence in the win was as a receiver, including the 38 yard catch downfield that set up the game winning field goal. On the play Elliott looked like a bona fide slot receiver.

He made a terrific catch over his shoulder after outrunning a defender who was not prepared for the big-bodied back to move towards the sidelines.

His four receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown, on top of his ground production, were cause for Buckeyes fans and fantasy owners in PPR leagues to smile. The Cowboys aren’t likely to make any significant breakthroughs at the WR position this season, so Elliott remains the key piece in the passing offense.

Around the league other Buckeyes turned in up and down performances. Michael Thomas didn’t play up to the level we have come to expect. He was held to only 47 yards on four receptions in the Saints’ victory.

Next. Who’s up, who’s down in the B1G after week 5. dark

John Simon collected five tackles, one for a loss and had a sack in his team’s win. Browns running back Carlos Hyde rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown in a loss to the Raiders.
