In week 3, Ohio State football alumni influenced a number of games across the NFL. Like last week, I’ll take a look at a pair of players that turned in strong performances. Those players are Carlos Hyde and Ted Ginn Jr.
One former Ohio State football player had a day he won’t soon forget. Not only was it Carlos Hyde’s birthday, his son was born.
That big news was the only thing that could top his 98 yard, two touchdown game performance. His efforts helped the Browns to their first win in nearly two years.
Hyde’s first score was late in the third quarter. He took the handoff and cut right, where he met three defenders he rushed through to cross the goal line. His second, he took the ball effortlessly between the tackles and walked into the end zone upright.

Ted Ginn Jr. is in his 12th season in the NFL. The veteran pulled in a pass just three of the six times he was targeted. However, he came away with a touchdown reception in the shootout between the Saints and Falcons which went to overtime.
His scoring play came in the red zone. The Saints showed run with a full box and ran play action, but Ginn went to the opposite side of the backfield to catch the pass. He showed he still has athleticism by spinning off a defender at the line of scrimmage before strolling four yards for six points.
There were a few other notable performances by former Ohio State players around the league. Denzel Ward forced a key fumble to help the Browns to victory, Michael Thomas snagged 10 passes for 129 yards, and Nick Vannett had four receptions for 27 yards for the victorious Seahawks.
