The Ohio State football team continues to roll and remains No. 4 in this week’s AP Poll. However, other Big Ten teams have taken a slide.
In this week’s AP Poll the Ohio State football team held onto the No. 4 ranking with a 52-3 win over Rutgers. TCU is now ranked No. 15 and is also 2-0. Saturday’s game between the Buckeyes and Horned Frogs promises to be a very good matchup.
As does No. 7 Auburn taking on LSU ranked No. 12. The winner very well could be the strongest contender to battle Alabama for the SEC West Division title. Well, No. 16 Mississippi may have something to say about that.
The Big Ten, SEC and the PAC 12 each had 5 teams ranked in the top 25. The Big 12 had 4, the ACC 3 and there was one apiece from the Mountain West Conference and American Athletic Conference. Notre Dame was the lone independent.

The Big Ten had five teams in the top 15 in the preseason AP Poll but the conference hasn’t lived up to their billing. Only Ohio State and Wisconsin have had back to back good games. Michigan and Michigan State are 1-1 and Penn State nearly lost their first game.
The SEC appears to be stronger than advertised at the top. Did I just write that?
Alabama and Georgia are very good as most expected them to be. Auburn looks like a top 10 team and will face LSU who is making a case they could be as well. After watching Mississippi State play last Saturday, I think the Bulldogs are pretty strong also.
What happened to the ACC. Last year many were saying it was the best conference in the country.
Well, week three could very well change the college landscape once again. In fact, it usually does.
Top ranked teams will be facing tougher competition and there will be plenty of game film for opposing coaches to analyze.
The top 25 in next week’s AP Poll could be entirely different. That’s the beauty of college football, it’s difficult to predict how teams’ fortunes may change from one week to the next.
