Ohio State has announced that the long, strange saga surrounding Urban Meyer could be resolved on Wednesday, one way or another. What are the possible outcomes for the head coach?

Ohio State’s independent investigation into whether Urban Meyer handled the situation with a former assistant coach correctly or not wrapped up on Sunday.

The investigative panel met with the board of trustees in secret Monday to unveil its findings. The board will discuss those findings in a public meeting on Wednesday morning at 9 am, according to a university statement. Ohio law stipulates that meetings of a public institution like Ohio State’s board of trustees must be open to the public, so long as public business is being discussed. In its statement, the university claimed no public business was discussed nor decisions made during the Monday meeting, allowing for the gathering to be kept private.

Sources told the Columbus Dispatch that the board is likely to recommend a suspension for Meyer. The board could suggest an absence of several games. It could also recommend an immediate reinstatement, classifying Meyer’s two weeks on administrative leave as punishment enough.

Ultimately, the decision will rest with university president Michael Drake. While that decision could come as early as that Wednesday meeting, it could also be announced at a later date.

Dispatch reporter Tim May spoke with four people interviewed by the investigative committee, all of whom described the panel as extremely thorough — as well as wide-ranging.

Here is what one person had to say about the investigation as reported by May:

"“It seems like they turned over pretty much every rock you could think of,” one of the witnesses told The Dispatch. “Their attention to detail was impressive.”"

Keeping the faith. dark. Next

The investigation of the Urban Meyer situation has now been concluded and the information has been presented to the powers that be. The decision as to what measures the Ohio State University will take, if any, will be made soon. Possibly as early as tomorrow.
