Preseason football is finally here, and former Ohio State football players are shining. We will round up some of the highlights.

Preseason football may not mean much, but it’s our first chance to watch some of our favorite former Ohio State football players in action. Here’s a look at how a few performed last night.

JT Barrett

Quarterback JT Barrett is locked in a battle to make the Saints roster, and didn’t hurt himself with his performance on Friday against the Cardinals. While he finished just 3-5 for 46 yards, he led his team to its only touchdown. Look familiar?

Also helping JT’s cause? His main competition, Taysom Hill, tossed two interceptions in the loss.

Speed and Power

Think Carlos Hyde is an afterthought in Cleveland after the Browns drafted RB Nick Chubb? Here’s what Hyde thinks about that.

Urban Meyer’s first 1,000 yard rusher knocked it in for the score against the Bills. He finished with 64 yards on just 9 carries, good for more than 7 yards per rush.

Samuel Strikes Again

Curtis Samuel make an outstanding catch and looked good after missing most of last season. He was targeted 3 times and had 2 catches for 65 yards/

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

More from Ohio State Football

Last night marked the second preseason games for former OSU linebackers Jerome Baker and Raekwon McMillan. McMillan, who is coming off a season-ending ACL injury, had an up-and-down game. #52 blew up a screen pass in the second quarter but also failed to shed a block on a long run from Christian McCaffrey.

Baker’s night was fairly uneventful, but he has impressed enough to get reps with the first team defense.

Expect to hear plenty more from former Ohio State players like Barrett, Samuel and McMillan who are attempting to make their mark in the NFL. We will keep track of veterans like Hyde as well.

Next. Most important games on Ohio State’s schedule. dark

And I’m sure you will hear plenty about Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliott and Michael Thomas. Those three are already NFL stars and the best is yet to come.
