Urban Meyer is the best at finding a football player to bring into his Ohio State recruiting class and then worry about what position he will play later.

The latest player to join the 2019 Ohio State recruiting class is an outstanding addition for coach Urban Meyer. Not only is Steele Chambers a very talented athlete but an intriguing one as well.

Chambers is a four-star recruit from Roswell, Georgia and is listed at 6 ft. 2 in., 215 pounds. He is ranked the No. 29th best ATH in the country and the No. 340 player overall in the 247Sports Composite.

I had heard Chambers’ name mentioned from time to time but wondered why the push for the No, 29 ranked athlete early in the recruiting cycle. Now it’s easy to see why he was so coveted by Urban Meyer, and other coaches from across the country.

If you check out these highlights I think you will be impressed with Chambers as well.

If you watched the video you may wonder why Chambers isn’t ranked higher in the recruiting charts. Believe it or not, it’s probably because he is an outstanding, versatile athlete.

Two things that can hurt a recruit’s ranking are lack of exposure and analysts wondering what position he will play in college.

More from Ohio State Football

Chambers loves baseball, and according to an article by Andrew Lind of Eleven Warriors he would like to play both sports at Ohio State. Baseball conflicts with high school spring football and camps as well. How well a player performs in shorts can often move him up the recruiting chart more than how he plays with pads on.

Chambers is also an outstanding player on both sides of the ball. I don’t think anybody is quite sure if he will play running back or linebacker at Ohio State.

High school stats, per Max Preps, will explain the dilemma coach Meyer may have.

In his sophomore season Chambers rushed for 1,486 yards and 21 touchdowns. Last year, 1,301 yards, 23 touchdowns and he caught 13 passes for 143 yards and 2 more scores.

On defense he registered 74 tackles as a sophomore, 70 more last year and 6 of them were for a loss. During the last two seasons, Chambers has intercepted 5 passes, recovered 2 fumbles and caused 3 more.

Urban Meyer may have a dilemma as to where to play Chambers, but I doubt that he minds.

He wants to add at least one more running back to this year’s recruiting class and there is a need for outside linebackers as well. Chambers could very well play either position and that will help the Buckeye head coach as the recruiting cycle plays out.

It’s nice to have flexibility when filling out a class, especially now that there is an early signing period. Coveted players at a particular position may be off the market in December.

Next: Soon Urban Meyer will have to weigh his 'options'

It appears Urban once again simply concerned himself with finding a football player and then figure out a position for him to play later. And although Chambers is only ranked the No. 340 player in the country, he has the potential to be one of the real gems in the 2019 Ohio State recruiting class.
