Ohio State Recruiting: DE joins teammate in 2019 class
Noah Potter joins teammate Ryan Jacoby as the newest member of the 2019 Ohio State recruiting class. I think Noah’s big brother approves.
Four-star defensive end Noah Potter committed to play for the Buckeyes today. He joins high school teammate Ryan Jacoby to become the fifth member of the 2019 Ohio State recruiting class.
Potter is from Mentor, Ohio and has been a high priority target for Urban Meyer. He is 6-5, 250 pounds, ranked the No. 18 SDE and the No. 240 player overall.
Because Potter is an in-state recruit, and Jacoby was already committed to the class, it was fairly certain Urban Meyer would land the defensive end. But the head coach had an ace in the hole as well, another Buckeye who I’m sure had some influence on Potter’s decision.
His older brother Micah is a center for the Ohio State basketball team. Don’t you think Noah looks up to his 6-9 big brother who I’m sure was trying to persuade him to play for the Buckeyes?
Potter joining the class gave coach Meyer two outstanding recruits in just the last few days as Ronnie Hickman committed last Friday.
Hickman is 6-1, 200 pounds and hails from Wayne, NJ. He is ranked as the 13th best ATH and the No. 124 player in the country.
These last two Buckeye commits are excellent additions to the class and interesting ones as well.

With Potter joining teammate Jacoby and four star OT Doug Nester, Urban has more of a local flavor early in the recruiting cycle. Two in-state recruits are already in the class, and Nester plays his high school football just across the Ohio River in Huntington, WV. There are more Ohio players on the Buckeye head coach’s radar as well.
Hickman deciding to play for Ohio State proves that defensive coordinator Greg Schiano, the lead recruiter for New Jersey, is continuing to make inroads in the state. The area is a hotbed of talent and Urban Meyer is always in a battle with other top-tier programs for the best players.
There were plenty of recruits visiting Ohio State last weekend for the spring game so expect to hear more on the recruiting front soon. Remember the 2018 class started out a little slow, but when a couple of players committed around this time things really picked up.
That’s because it’s well known Urban Meyer has his eyes on numerous four and five-star recruits at every position who have shown interest in playing for the Buckeyes. Some of those players will be coming on board soon to claim a spot in their position units as there are few available.
Next: Only spring rules can slow down Buckeye offense
They won’t want to be left out of the next great Ohio State recruiting class. Stay tuned, more BOOMS are on the way.
