Ohio State Football: Urban Meyer’s Zone 6 wish-list filled
Newest commit makes it a loaded wide receiver unit in the 2018 Ohio State recruiting class.
Another four star wide receiver joined the Ohio State recruiting class yesterday and now Urban Meyer’s Zone 6 wish-list may be filled.
The Buckeye head coach already had a group of receivers in his 2018 class that would make most coaches envious. Chris Olave announcing he will play his college ball for Ohio State made it even better.
Let’s look at the newest commit first and then the other members of Zone 6 in this year’s class.
Olave is 6-1, 170 pound wide receiver from San Marcos, Ca. He is ranked the 54th best wide receiver and No. 324 player in the country overall.
Don’t let the recruiting rankings fool you, they reflect the fact that Olave only had one year in a wide open offense to put his pass catching ability on display.
According to an article by Andrew Lind of Eleven Warriors, Olave only played his senior year at Mission Hills High School but had 93 receptions for 1,764 yards and 26 touchdowns. That was enough for Urban Meyer and receivers coach Zach Smith.
Kamryn Babb and Cameron Brown were teammates at Christian Brothers College in St. Louis. Babb is the No. 13 wide receiver in the country and a top 100 player and Brown is ranked as the No. 53 WR. Babb was a top target for Urban Meyer early in the recruiting class and Brown came onto the scene later.

Like Olave, I think Brown is undervalued in his recruiting ranking. David Kvidahl of STLhighschoolsports.com reported that the 6-2, 175 pound receiver caught 58 passes for 931 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.
L’Christian Smith is 6-6, 205 pounds and ranked the No. 5 ATH in the country. He is a tremendous athlete who seriously considered playing basketball in college.
He could be a red zone threat in the near future. I would like the chances of Smith beating a defensive back on a jump ball in the end zone.
And don’t forget Jaelen Gill, the No. 2 all-purpose back in the country who will almost certainly be playing H-back.

I know coach Smith has to love his group of receivers in the ‘18 class. And I have to think that he and Urban Meyer have had their Zone 6 wish-list filled.
