How will the Ohio State players approach the game?

The Ohio State Buckeyes will attempt to improve their Big Ten record to 5-0  tonight when they host the Maryland Terrapins, and it will be a new challenge for Chris Holtmann’s team. This will be a conference game the Buckeyes are supposed to win.

So far this season, Ohio State has often been the underdog as they have been trying to gel as a team under the first year head coach. Now the Buckeyes are 4-0 in the Big Ten, so how will they respond when they are the favorite?

They will be playing a team that has been decimated by injuries so far this season. Now the Terrapins will be shy one more player when they face the Buckeyes.

It was reported by Roman Stubbs of the Washington Post that guard Dion Wiley will miss the game after suffering a concussion Sunday in Maryland’s win over Iowa. Mr. Stubbs also mentioned in the article that Justin Jackson and Ivan Bender have season ending injuries and the Terrapins will only have eight scholarship players available in tonight’s game.

More from Scarlet and Game

It will be interesting to see if the Buckeyes come out playing with the same energy that has led to a 13-4 record, and was on full display in the win over the Spartans. Or if the players think they have arrived and the Terrapins shouldn’t be much of a challenge. With a young team that cam sometimes be the case as they forget what got them where they are.

That had better not be the case as Maryland has won eight of their last nine games and the only loss was at Michigan State. The Terrapins only other Big Ten loss was to the Purdue Boilermakers on December 1st.

Chris Holtmann’s squad has met numerous challenges so far this season and exceeded beyond the expectations of most. Now the young Buckeyes are about to face one more challenge, they will have to live up to expectations.
