Ohio State Football: JT Barrett proves once again he’s a TD machine
Ohio State quarterback JT Barrett threw for two touchdowns and ran for another versus Illinois.
On Senior Day, JT Barrett once again proved he is a touchdown machine. The Ohio State quarterback threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in the last game he will ever play in Ohio Stadium.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone he would go out that way in front of the home crowd. After all, Barrett is the all-time Big Ten leader in passing touchdowns and total touchdowns.
What made his finale most impressive is that he only played a little more than half the game, and the fact he set two more marks in the process.
With his touchdown pass to Binjimen Victor in the first quarter, Barrett became the only Big Ten quarterback to throw 100 touchdown passes in his career. Also, his 33 rushing yards gave him 3,081 for his career passing Braxton Miller as the most ever for an Ohio State quarterback.
Barrett’s two touchdown passes versus Illinois gives him 101 for his career, 11 more than former Purdue quarterback Drew Brees. He has now totaled 140 touchdowns passing and rushing which is 34 more than Brees who is second on that list as well.

Barrett currently holds more than 30 Ohio State and Big Ten records but will probably be known mostly for his ability to put the ball in the end zone. With at least three more games to play this season, just how many will he add to his total?
It’s amazing a guy like Barrett who has accomplished so much is often scrutinized by some fans who have wanted him replaced with an unproven player. Yes, the Buckeye quarterback has flaws in his game but name another guy playing the position who doesn’t.
And the ultimate goal of any quarterback is to put the ball in the end zone isn’t it? Nobody in the Big Ten has put up touchdown totals even close to Barrett’s since the conference was formed in 1895.

Anyway, it was nice to see him perform well one last time in “The Shoe’. Even though it was in limited duty, JT proved once again he is a touchdown machine.
