College Football Playoff rankings week 12.

The College Football Playoff rankings for week 12 are out and Ohio State has moved up to the No. 9 spot. What a difference a week makes.

The Buckeyes were considered all but out of the playoff conversation after their bad loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Now they have a fairly good chance to make the playoff if they win out.

There are roadblocks for sure. But most may be removed by the head to head battles of the teams ranked ahead of the Buckeyes. .

Wins over Illinois and Michigan will pit Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship Game against Wisconsin. A win by the Buckeyes will take the No. 5 ranked Badgers out of the equation.

If Alabama continues to play at the high level they have been, Auburn and Georgia will go by the wayside. Clemson and Miami are on a collision course and one of those ACC teams will probably be left out.

Unless the Oklahoma Sooners stub their toe they should win the Big 12 and make the playoff. Now for one scenario that could be a problem for the Buckeyes.

What if Notre Dame wins out and finishes 10-2 and the Buckeyes win the Big Ten. The Playoff Committee members seem to really like the Irish even though they just got smoked by Miami. Would they put Notre Dame in the playoff over a conference champion with one more win?

Anyway, Ohio State is back in the mix to make the final four.

Here is a look at the CFP rankings for week 12.
