Any chance of a national title for Ohio State ended with the devastating loss to Iowa.

Ohio State’s season went down the drain, and another College Football Playoff trip, after an embarrassing 55-24 loss to Iowa.

There is no recovery from this loss.  The Buckeyes will rebound and win the Big Ten, but they have not earned the right to play for a national championship.

Let’s face it, the Ohio State football team didn’t show up ready to play and took a beating.  A loss would be okay, but this was much worse.

Iowa is not in the same league as Ohio State when it comes to talent.  Today, the Hawkeyes just had more heart and pride.

The talk about having the best defensive line and an explosive offense needs to end.  This program has not achieved its goals for the third straight season.

More from Scarlet and Game

Writing books about leadership, recruiting the best talent, having a profitable program, putting players in the NFL and consistently winning are all wonderful.  Most programs would kill to have this.  Ohio State is not that type of program.

The bar is winning national championships and that will have to wait for at least one more year.

It hurts to be critical. because I am not the one out there putting in the work.  These players put everything on the line to make Buckeye Nation happy.

J.T. Barrett will take heat for this loss.  Leave him alone.  This young man has represented Ohio State well and just wasn’t at his best today. He will rebound.

Hopefully the team will get back to Columbus and regroup to take on an old nemesis, Mark Dantonio.  His Spartans took care of business in East Lansing today beating Penn State 27-24.

The good thing is that winning the Big Ten is still achievable.  It won’t lead to anything meaningful, but it is still an important goal.  Let’s hope the leaders on the team will rise up and the Buckeyes will take care of business.
