Playoff Rankings make you wonder if Ohio State has a chance
With the teams ahead of them, the Ohio State Buckeyes have an uphill battle after the first College Football Playoff rankings.
The first College Football Playoff rankings are out. While the voters in the AP poll had Ohio State at No. 3 and Wisconsin at No. 4, the Playoff Committee has the Buckeyes at 6 and the Badgers at 9. It may be hard for either team to move up into the final four with the teams ranked ahead of them.
Here is the Top 4 as it stands right now.
- Georgia
- Alabama
- Notre Dame
- Clemson
Georgia and Alabama will play in the SEC Championship game so that should create a spot for some team to move up. But Clemson and Notre Dame may have clear sailing from this point forward and Oklahoma sits at No. 5. Not a pretty picture for Ohio State.
Evidently the members of the committee have been on vacation and haven’t watched any college football yet this season. Or are they just setting up scenarios in which they can justify putting certain teams in like they did with Oklahoma in 2015?
I have no problem with Georgia and Alabama at the top of the rankings. Both teams have played well and are undefeated.
Notre Dame has played well but is only included in the final four because they are the “Fighting Irish”. The Buckeyes would smoke them.
Clemson has been up and down this season and shouldn’t be considered to be included in the top four teams at the moment.
And the Sooners should be glad they played the Buckeyes in week two before JT Barrett and co. got the offense rolling.
Well, here are the first College Football Playoff rankings of 2017:

There you have it, the first College Football Playoff ranking. I can’t believe the committee got things wrong even more than the AP voters usually do. I hope the committee members actually watch some games next weekend.
