AP Poll: Ohio State No. 6 and two loss SEC teams ranked
Bad week for the AP voters, they had to move Ohio State to No. 6.
The AP Poll for week 8 is out and Ohio State has moved up to the No. 6 spot. The SEC now has four teams ranked in the top 25 even though a couple of those teams have two losses. And there were only two other such teams ranked in the other conferences.
It had to be a rough week for the voters having to move the Auburn Tigers out of the Top 10 and down to No. 21 after their loss to LSU. But at least it gave them the opportunity to include the Tigers from Baton Rouge in the rankings at No. 24.
The SEC is certainly represented well at the top of the rankings. Alabama is still at the top and Georgia has moved up to No. 3.
The Big Ten again has three highly ranked teams. Ohio State moved up to No 6 to go along with Penn State (2) and Wisconsin (5).
The Big 12 also has three teams ranked in the Top 10. TCU is at No. 4 and Oklahoma and Oklahoma at 9 and 10 respectively.
The ACC has two Top 10 teams, Clemson (7) and Miami (8). While the Pac 12 was shut out of the Top 10, the interesting thing is the conference tied the Big Ten with five teams in the Top 25 this week.
Well, here is how the AP Poll sets up in week 8:

I was thinking that if Alabama or Georgia would lose this week to a conference foe, that would give the voters in the AP Poll an opportunity to move another SEC team into the Top 25 next week. But that just isn’t going to happen.
Alabama is playing Tennessee so don’t expect an upset there, and Georgia has the week off.
Next: Buckeyes are the best team in college football
Speaking of time off, Ohio State has a bye week which could give the voters a reason to move the Buckeyes down a notch or two. After all, they did just that when the Buckeyes were scoring 50+ points a game, so why not in a week when they don’t even play?
