AP Poll week 7.
The AP Poll is out for week 7 and Washington State vaulted past Ohio State somehow. We will do the math on that situation later.
First, I feel sorry for the voters in the AP Poll because they could only put three SEC teams in the top 25, so I’m sure some of them won’t get invited to participate in the poll next year. But I have to give them credit, they managed to fit all three Southeastern Conference teams into the top 10 moving Auburn up to that spot.
Now for the (8) Cougars vaulting past the (9) Buckeyes. That’s because Washington State has had a nice season so far and squeaked out a win over USC.
It was a good win for the Cougars, but the Longhorns went into the Colosseum and took the Trojans to overtime, and nobody considers them a powerhouse. And this was the same Texas team that was defeated by Maryland 51-41 the first game of the season at their place.
Saturday, the Buckeyes defeated the Terrapins 62-14. Congrats to Washington State for having a nice season so far, but there is no way the Cougars could hang with the Buckeyes.
That’s this week’s rant so now let’s take a look at the 25 teams in the AP Poll:

It’s been a tough season for the voters in the AP Poll. There were a half-dozen or so SEC teams ranked early on before they played their way out of the Top 25. Let’s hope one of the conference’s unranked teams will have a huge game next week so the voters can justify including them in the poll.
And possibly one of the teams ranked 10-15 this week will have an impressive win that will enable them to jump Ohio State in the rankings. However, if the Buckeyes continue to score 50+ points a game that may be difficult.

It’s not likely the Ohio State offense will slow down against Nebraska, but one can hope can’t he?
