My Week 3 picks against the spread of games involving teams ranked in the AP Top 10.

I sat on the sidelines the first two weeks of the season to get a feel for how the college football landscape was shaping up. I will now begin my weekly picks of the AP Top 10 teams versus the spread. You wouldn’t have gotten rich if you ran with my picks last year, but you would have made a few bucks.

I didn’t pick every week, and sometimes ignored Thursday night games, but my record, without checking results of my week 12 picks, was 38-28 for a 57.5 winning percentage to that point. But if you had bet all of my picks except Clemson games, man you could have made some money.

I can only remember picking the spread correctly once or twice on a Clemson game. At the beginning of the season I had them as my No. 1 and had them beating the spread most games early on. They rarely did. Then when I chose the underdog to cover, the Tigers won by 40 or 50 points.

I even flipped a coin one week and lost. Now they are ranked in the Top 10 again. Will someone please knock them out so I won’t have so many losses this year?

Anyway, here we go with my picks against the spread for teams in the Top 10 of the AP Poll this week.  Betting lines are courtesy of Sportsbook Review.

Alabama (1) by 29.5 over Colorado State:

The Tide keeps rolling and covers.

Oklahoma (2) by 34.5 over. Tulane:

The Sooners will win easily, but will there be somewhat of a letdown early following their big win over the Buckeyes? I’ll take Tulane and the points.

Clemson (3) by 4.5 over Louisville:

The Tiger defense versus Heisman Trophy winner will be the best matchup this week. Here we go again, I think Clemson will cover so Tiger fans may not like this pick.

USC (4) by 14 over Texas:

I’m not yet sold on USC so I like  Texas and the points.

Penn State (5) by 39 over Georgia State:

Hate giving that many points but I think Penn State will cover.

More from Scarlet and Game

Washington (6) by 34.5 over Fresno State:

Even though I am high on Washington, that’s too just many points to give here. Fresno State and the points.

Michigan (7) by 24 over Air Force:

Michigan just too strong for Air Force. Wolverines will cover.

Ohio State (8) by 30,5 over Army:

Like I wrote previously, I think Army is a bad matchup for Ohio State this week and Urban Meyer won’t let the dogs loose to run up the score. He has too much respect for the military to do so. I predict an Ohio State win in the 20s so Army and the points..

Oklahoma (9) by 12.5 over Pittsburgh:

Cowboy offense is really good so I will go with Oklahoma State to cover.

Wisconsin (10) by 14.5 over Brigham Young:

Tricky game for Wisconsin but I still think the Badgers will cover.

Next: Buckeyes in Learning Stage, Season can be Saved.

There you have my week 3  picks involving teams ranked in the AP Top 10. I like most of my picks, but obviously I’m not overly confident about my choice in the Clemson-Louisville game.
