4 Big Ten teams ranked in the top 10 of Amway Coaches Poll, SEC 1
It’s interesting the voters in the Amway Coaches Poll had four Big Ten teams ranked in the top10 but only one SEC team.
The Amway Coaches Poll is out and Alabama is ranked No. 1 and Ohio State is at No. 2. I think most college fans would have these two programs ranked at the top entering the season. But it is interesting that three other Big Ten teams cracked the top 10 of the Amway Coaches Poll but no other SEC team did.
Penn State came it at No. 6, Michigan 9 and Wisconsin at 10. The Pac 12 had two teams ranked in the top 10, USC (4) and Washington (7), and the ACC did as well with Florida State (3) and Clemson (5).
The only Power 5 conference other than the SEC to have just one school ranked in the top 10 was the Big 12. But don’t worry SEC fans, your conference had more teams in the top 25 than theirs, six to five.
Here are the results of the Amway Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings as reported by USA Today:

Here are some of the things I find interesting in the Amway Coaches Poll. First I will address the SEC situations.

It has been a given in recent years that every preseason poll would have at least two or three SEC teams ranked in the top 10. Are the voters beginning to realize what the “objective college football fans” have realized for quite some time? The conference is overrated!
If the SEC is so great, why has Alabama run roughshod through the West Division for several years? The only time Nick Saban’s team doesn’t go to the conference championship if he decides to do something like attempt to kick a 50+ yard field goal with time expiring.
Also, the coaches voting in the poll may have gotten something right ranking Tennessee at No. 24. Every season is supposed to be the year that program is gong to break out and Tennessee will once again be a contender. I think the Volunteers may be able to meet these expectations.
Now about the Big Ten. I think Northwestern should have been included because I think the Wildcats are a top 20 team. I also believe coach Riley is making strides at Nebraska and I think the Cornhuskers may surprise some people and finish in the top 25.
Next: Season depends on stopping these four players
Isn’t it fun that college football is back and polls are being released. Now we can argue about anything and everything relating to college football for months. And just think, the first kickoff is less than a month away. Can’t wait!
