Ohio State Recruiting: Hold Onto One Player and Flip Another?
An Ohio State commit visits Alabama and Urban Meyer is looking to flip a 5 star recruit.
Spring is finally here which means the weather is warmer and recruiting is heating up a little as well. It’s not yet hot and heavy for Ohio State like it will be in the summer when football camps are in full swing, but there are still interesting things taking place.
Quarterback Emory Jones is visiting Alabama this weekend according to Bill Kurelic of 247 Sports. The No. 1 dual threat quarterback in the country has been committed to the Buckeyes since last summer.
It’s not unusual for a top recruit to continue taking visits after committing to a school, and Jones has been actively recruiting for the Buckeyes since he committed. He is scheduled to make a visit to Columbus soon so I don’t see his trip to Alabama being a big deal. Unless of course his Ohio State visit were to be cancelled for some reason.
Urban Meyer and Larry Johnson want to flip this next player for sure. Micah Parsons is the No. 1 weak side defensive end in the country and has been committed to Penn State for a while.

I had heard rumblings about the Buckeyes possibly getting closer to flipping the 5 star defensive end from Harrisburg, PA, but I thought it would be a long shot. It seemed like coach James Franklin had his hooks in Parsons and that was probably it for his recruitment.
But Andrew Ellis of Eleven Warriors made some good points concerning the possibility Parsons could be flipped. I knew about Parsons naming his puppy Brutus, but sometimes players just like to have fun with the recruiting process and tease certain fanbases.
Ellis noted something I wasn’t aware of though. He said Parsons put out a list of his top six schools, and then Ellis pointed out that’s unusual for a player who is already committed to a school. It does make you wonder doesn’t it?

It would be a great situation for Parsons to come to Ohio State, because he would play for coach Johnson who regularly sends players to the NFL. And there will be openings at the defensive end positions in 2018 as Tyquan Lewis, Jalyn Holmes and Sam Hubbard will be moving on to the pros.
