This member of the 2017 Ohio State recruiting class may very well be on the ‘Path To Greatness’.

5-star defensive end and Ohio State signee Chase Young posted a video of himself on Twitter called, “Path To Greatness.” The video was of the 6-foot-5 and 251-pound Hyattsville, Maryland product working out.

A football and basketball player in high school, Young decided to concentrate on getting bigger, faster and stronger for his football career as a Buckeye and beyond, rather than playing basketball for DeMatha over the winter.

Young helped lead the DeMatha Stags to an undefeated season as a senior, recording a ridiculous 118 tackles, 19 sacks, 37 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles and two defensive touchdowns. 100+ tackles as a defensive end in one single season? That’s simply unheard of, and it serves as a demonstration of his athleticism.

One of the top prospects in all of the 2017 class, Young’s video of him bench pressing 345 lbs is evidence in itself that he is dedicated to becoming all that is expected of him and then some, as he is doing whatever it takes to get ready for his first season at Ohio State. Check him out:

More from Scarlet and Game

Just the other day the future scarlet and gray star received his official letter from Ohio State. In signing Young, the Ohio State staff reeled in their No. 1 target at defensive end in the 2017 class, which was a mission accomplished for Buckeye defensive line coach Larry Johnson, who is proving that he is not only one of the premier defensive line coaches in the country, he’s an excellent recruiter as well.

Johnson helped recruit and/or develop the likes of NFL defensive ends Joey Bosa, Noah Spence, Jack Crawford, Anthony Zettel, Carl Nassib and DaQuan Jones, as well as NFL defensive tackles Michael Bennett and Adolphus Washington.

That trend should continue over the course of the next few years, as Tyquan Lewis, Nick Bosa, Sam Hubbard and bunch have already grabbed the attention of NFL scouts. It appears as if Chase Young is next in line to do so, and pretty soon the Buckeyes will be known as more than just defensive back U.
