Ohio State Football: Buckeyes in Post Combine NFL Mock Drafts
How former Ohio State players are listed in these mock drafts following their workouts at the NFL Combine.
Most of the Ohio State players performed well at the NFL Combine and have solidified or improved their draft status according to recent mock drafts. Five players are listed as potentially being chosen in the first two rounds, and two mock drafts have three players going in the first.
Here are the Ohio State players listed at the 2017 Mock Draft Central at NFL.com, Tom Downey of Chat Sports mock draft and Matt Miller’s of Bleacher Report. Charlie Casserly, Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks and Lance Zierlein of NFL.com only have first round picks listed. Downy has two rounds in his mock draft and Miller has all seven rounds.
Marshon Lattimore: At Mock Draft Central, Lattimore is ranked as a top 5 pick in all four mock drafts. Downey and Miller have him going at No. 6. If I was Lattimore, I wouldn’t perform at Ohio State’s Pro Day. How could he improve his draft stock?
Malik Hooker: 4 mock drafts have Hooker going at No. 7, Brooks has him as the No. 2 pick and Zierlein at No. 12. Even though he is recovering from his surgeries, Hooker looks like he is almost a lock to be a top 10 pick.
Gareon Conley: After a good Combine in which he ran the 40 in 4.44 seconds, Conley has moved into the first round in two mock drafts. He is No. 24 in Casserly’s draft and Miller has him going at 18. Downy has Conley going in the 2nd round as the 43rd pick.

Raekwon McMillan: It appears that after his performance at the NFL Combine, McMillan has probably solidified himself as a 2nd round pick. The NFL pundits said he answered some of the questions scouts had concerning the middle linebacker with his 4.61 time in the 40 and his performance in the agility drills. Miller has him going as the No. 46 pick and Downey has him at 54.
Pat Elflein: Downey has Elflein going in the 2nd round at No. 46 and Miller in the 3rd at 69. If he can improve on his 22 reps in the bench press at Ohio State’s Pro Day, I think Elflein will go in the 2nd round.
Curtis Samuel: Miller has Samuel as the No. 75 pick in the draft. Although he wasn’t listed as a second round choice I still think he may be a draft day surprise. If you were an NFL general manager whose team was in need of a playmaker, would you want to pass on Samuel twice? Try explaining that to the owner if Samuel has a big rookie season for someone else.
I think Noah Brown must perform well at Ohio State’s Pro Day in order to be chosen in the draft. Scouts have a few questions concerning the young wide receiver. He also declined to run the 40 at the Combine where he could be compared to other receivers who ran on the slow track at Indy.

Dontre Wilson and Corey Brown will have their shot to impress NFL scouts at Ohio State’s Pro Day. Each player will probably have an opportunity of making an NFL team as an undrafted free agent, and a good performance at the Pro Day should solidify that. Who knows, a fast 40 time with a good workout and they could possibly become late round picks in the draft.
