The Ohio State middle linebacker was impressive at the NFL Combine.

Raekwon McMillan said he was going to make some money at the NFL Combine. Judging by his performance, he certainly did just that.

After a top five showing among linebackers with 23 reps in the bench press on Saturday, McMillan’s athleticism was on display Sunday. His time of 4.61 in the 40 wasn’t far behind the leader Duke Riley’s 4.58. I don’t count the 4.46 ran by Jabrill Peppers as far as linebackers are concerned because he will be a safety in the NFL.

McMillan posted a vertical leap of 33 inches and a broad jump of 121 inches. He also performed well in coverage and agility drills which was extremely important. McMillan had to show he could be an every down linebacker in order to move up in the draft.

Here is what Bucky Brooks of NFL.com had to say about McMillan as reported in an article by Chat Sports

"McMillan easily flipped his hips in multi-directional zone-drop drills, exhibiting solid balance and body control. In addition, he showed good balance and body control floating over the bags in lateral drills. With teams looking for solid options on the interior, McMillan’s performance should make him a strong top-40 possibility."

The concerns NFL scouts had about the Ohio State middle linebacker were his athleticism and his ability to defend the pass. If those questions are now answered in the minds of some, McMillan could make the jump from a third round pick to a high second rounder.

That would be quite a paycheck for a weekend’s work. Raekwon said he was going to make some money at the NFL Combine didn’t he?

It’s been a good Combine for Buckeyes so far and there will be more info tomorrow. Defensive backs Marshon Lattimore and Gareon Conley will be working out and that should be interesting.

I’m especially interested to see how Conley performs. A good 40 time should solidify him as a second round pick, but if he runs a fast one, some team may take a chance on him in the first.
