Ohio State Recruiting: Urban Meyer Offers Scholarship To Another Texan
Urban offers a 4 star player from Texas and a big defensive tackle.
Urban Meyer is doubling down on the success he had recruiting the state of Texas in the 2017 recruiting cycle. He has already offerred scholarships to several star recruits from Texas in the 2018 class and the latest offer went out to S/LB DeMarvion Overshown from Arp, TX.
Overshown is ranked as the No. 14 safety and a top 150 player per the 247Sports Composite. But he is 6’4, 200 pounds and will certainly put on weight during the next year so he projects as an outside linebacker in college.
As a junior, Overshown had 173 tackles with seven tackles for a loss. He had three interceptions, recovered a fumble and forced another. Quite an impressive season to say the least.
Just think if Demarvion Overshown or one of the other star Texas recruits would commit to playing for the Buckeyes soon and start the recruiting ball rolling. Who knows, Urban may be able to reel in another five players from the state in the 2018 class.

Coach Meyer also extended a scholarship offer to defensive tackle Robert Cooper from Snellville, Georgia. Cooper is 6’1, 350 pounds and is ranked as the No. 12 DT in the country. He is already committed to Florida State so it may be a difficult task to bring him into the class.
Urban Meyer continues to look for those big space eating tackles like Cooper. Those kinds of players have alluded him since he has been head coach of the Buckeyes. He has offered two other 300+ defensive tackles in the ’18 class, 305 pound Matthew Jones from Brooklyn, NY and 312 pound Austin Fontaine from Hyattsville, Md.
Jones is from Erasmus Hall, the same high school as Curtis Samuel. Fontaine plays for Dematha Catholic where 5 star recruit Chase Young played ball. I like Ohio State’s chances on those two guys.

The 2018 cycle is moving along much slower than last year’s with only three commits so far. Urban Meyer has a ton of offers out to highly ranked recruits so I expect that will change soon, and Ohio State will be on his way to another Top 5 class.
