Ohio State Recruiting: Your 2016 Buckeyes Class
By Dillon Davis
Tyler Gerald- IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL)
Size: 6’5″ 300 lbs.
Position: OG (#6 OG, 4 stars)
Originally from Portsmouth, Ohio, Gerald took his talent down to the IMG Academy to prepare himself for the elite college football landscape. IMG Academy is more or less a college setting, and it has routinely churned out division one talent at a rate that very few programs in the country can rival.
Gerald became the second commitment to the 2016 class on June 19th, 2014. George Hill has since departed the class, making Gerald the first member of this special group.
Growing up in Ohio, Gerald always wanted to be a Buckeye. Despite a strong push from Virginia Tech, he could not turn down the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream.
He is a better athlete than his frame might suggest, and he has a motor that never quits. While he excels in run blocking, he will need to improve his pass protection.
Gerald is one of the seven early enrollees of this class. Being able to go through Mickey Marotti’s winter workouts, as well as spring ball, will get him acclimated early to the demands of playing at Ohio State.
