In terms of the scheduling, Ohio State football fans aren't too happy with how things have shaped out for the non-conference contests. First, the showdown with Texas will remain a Big Noon Kickoff on FOX - that alone is infuriating. Now, though, people are mad over the kickoff time against Ohio?
Unfortunately, that's the case. On Thursday, the official kickoff times for the first three weeks of the season have been announced. Week 1 vs. Texas is at 12 p.m, while Week 2 vs. Grambling will be televised at 3:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
However, it's the Week 3 clash that indeed has a lot of folks pretty darn ticked off, as a 7 p.m. matchup with Ohio is on the way. The game will also be televised on Peacock, which somehow makes everything worse for Sept. 13.
Ohio State football fans are not happy over the non-conference kickoff times
If anything, the first night game of the year should be against Arch Manning and Texas. However, the Longhorns didn't want to change things up from noon after Ohio State reached out. Apparently the Texas AD doesn't want to work on a short week after facing OSU, while he's more focused on going to church on a Sunday too. Please.
With the greatest respect for the Ohio Bobcats, they're not going to bring the same kind of electric buzz that someone like Texas would for a battle under the lights at The Shoe. We know how unreal the atmosphere can be at night with countless Ohio State fans screaming their heads off.
Alas, the kickoff times have been locked in and there's nothing that can be done about things now. The Ohio State faithful are going to continue to voice their displeasure, as it sure seems like the reigning national champs aren't getting treated like a team that just won it all in January.
