Ohio State fans are over the moon that Georgia wasn’t the right fit for Justin Fields but how does he stack up against their current quarterback Jake Fromm?

Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm is certainly a talented gunslinger on one of the best teams in college football, but was his backup last season – current Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields – actually more talented than him? I think so.

Fields has been balling out for the Buckeyes so far this season, leading them to a 4-0 start, and they have dominated in every single game. I know that Ohio State hasn’t played anyone too tough but I still think Fields has shown that he is one of the top three or four quarterbacks in the country.

Let’s first compare Fields’ stats through his first four starts compared to Fromm’s first four starts.

In Fromm’s first four games, he threw for 650 yards and seven touchdowns. Those numbers are not even in the same ballpark as Fields’ as he currently has 880 passing yards and 13 touchdowns. This is in addition to what Fields has done with his feet, something Fromm doesn’t do, as he has 150 rushing yards on the season and six touchdowns.

That means he has 19 total touchdowns this season compared to Fromm’s seven through his first four games. Additionally, these stats are even better than Fromm’s stats through the first four games this season. So far this season Fromm has 788 passing yards and six total touchdowns.

Six touchdowns compared to 19? I think I know which one I would rather take.

Many people knew from the beginning that Fields was going to be better than Fromm too.

More from Ohio State Football

Coming into college, Fields was a five-star prospect with a .9998 composite rating according to 247Sports. He was the No. 8 rated recruit of all-time, the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback recruit in the country and the No. 2 recruit in Georgia and in the entire country, only behind Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence.

This is compared to Fromm who was a four-star recruit with a .9794 composite rating. He was the No. 3 pro-style quarterback recruit, the No. 4 recruit in Georgia, and the 44th best recruit in the country. Yes, these are still solid and yes Fromm came out one year before Fields, but these numbers clearly show who proved more in high school.

Yes, Georgia is still one of the best teams in the country and Jake Fromm is a talented quarterback but Fields has shown us that he has the arm strength, accuracy and an ability to make plays with his legs which I think makes him the third-best quarterback in the country behind Trevor Lawrence and Tua Tagovailoa.

Next. Buckeyes and Badgers clearly Big Ten favorites. dark

I think Fields even has the potential to be better than Tagovailoa and Lawrence eventually and will be one of the most sought-after quarterback prospects ever once he goes into the NFL. So, again, Fromm is good but I want to personally thank Georgia for giving up one of the best college quarterbacks we will ever see.
