The Ohio State football team is less than two weeks away from having the biggest season-opening game in program history. They host the number-one team in the country at the end of the month. Texas is a team with revenge on its mind after losing to the Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have been figuring out who is going to be the starting quarterback this season. The battle has been raging on between Julian Sayin and Linocln Kienholz. Sayin is a former five-star recruit, while Kienholz is the player who has been in Ohio State's system the longest.
Despite the fact that Kienholz is faster and can run the ball better, Sayin is the clear choice to lead the Buckeyes this season. He is likely to be named the starter, and it shouldn't be a tough call for Ryan Day as his team prepares for the Longhorns.
Julian Sayin should be the easy pick to quarterback the Ohio State football team
Sayin has the stronger arm of the two players. He has also been the more accurate quarterback by all accounts since training camp started. What Kienholz brings is strong leadership and the ability to create plays when things break down. That shouldn't be enough to win the starting job.
The Buckeyes need someone who can get the ball to the great playmakers they have and just get out of the way. Sayin is that guy, but he also has the potential to be more. He was picked by Nick Saban to be the quarterback of the future of Alabama before he retired for a reason.
Day is expected to name a starter on Monday, but he may decide to wait in order to make Texas prepare for two different quarterbacks. That likely wouldn't fool them, though. They know that Sayin is also the right choice.
