Urban Meyer sent damning designation on his tenure in career-ending spot

Urban Meyer saw his worst year of his coaching career in the NFL as the Jacksonville Jaguars' headman. It was a 2-11 three-quarter-season effort that was put out of its misery due to scandalous photos being released and a poor effort developing players. Oh, and he allegedly kicked kicker Josh Lambo out of frustration.

Yahoo Sports' Frank Schwab deemed Meyer's failed Jaguars tenure as the worst in the history of professional sports.

"And just remember, when you hear superlatives today, the worst coach in pro sports history is absolutely Urban Meyer," Schwab wrote.

"There were other bad coaches you'll name. Really bad. None of them were worse than Urban Meyer. I think it's literally impossible to be."

Urban Meyer can redeem himself with one more run in college football

It'd truly be something if Meyer ended up going out a loser. He laid the foundation for the dominance the Ohio State Buckeyes displayed since his departure. Meyer was the one who saw something in Ryan Day.

Could Meyer return? At the very least, there will be options.

Victory Bell Rings' Josh Yourish doesn't believe the Penn State Nittany Lions will be one, but that's one of the best jobs available. It'd undoubtedly be a betrayal of those in Columbus who supported his program if that ever came to fruition.

Then there's a potential return to the Florida Gators. Not only is the SEC a different beast than when he was last around, but UF is not a top NIL spender at this moment. Maybe Meyer can change that, since many grew up on those Tim Tebow teams. The Chris Leak year, too. Nostalgia can certainly get these donors sentimental and spend-happy.

Then there's the Virginia Tech Hokies option. They're looking to add $229 million to their athletic budget over the next several years. Don't write them off in any coaching sweepstakes for a little while.

Meyer has options. We'll see if he has any interest in using them.

Hopefully, he does, though. His final act as a coach was a rough one.
