Tyler Shough's praise for Carnell Tate reminds NFL why Ohio State rules WRU

The Saint QB would love to throw the ball to another Ohio State wide receiver next season.

The NFL Draft gets closer with every passing day, and now that teams are solidifying their rosters in free agency, the NFL Draft is starting to become a little clearer. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza is going first overall, no matter what, to the Las Vegas Raiders, but then things aren't quite as clear.

Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate is likely to be drafted in the first round; it is truly just a matter of where he will go. There are many teams that could use an electric wide receiver like himself, but it seems like there is one team that has already had success with an Ohio State receiver and may want two on its roster.

The New Orleans Saints are still working on rebuilding a roster that was decimated a year ago, and now, with quarterback Tyler Shough, the Saints' pick last season, things are looking up. Shough was able to step in and help the Saints this season, even though they didn't make it to playoff. Now, there is hope the organization will build an offense around him to give him the help he needs.

There were thoughts of the Saints taking running back Jeremiyah Love with the eighth pick, but instead, they have signed former Jags running back Travis Etienne Jr. to a four-year deal. The Saints could definitely use a wide receiver to pair with Chris Olave, so why not go and get another former Buckeye? Shough seems pretty high on the idea, as he mentioned on the Downs 2 Business podcast.

"You can't go wrong with Ohio State, that's what I'll say," Shough said. "I think he's [Tate] one of, if not the best, receivers in the draft."

Carnell Tate could team up with former Buckeye Chris Olave in New Orleans

Tate has expressed that he wants to go to a team where he can make an impact, get a lot of targets, and really help the offense progress. Another team Tate mentioned was the Buffalo Bills, who just traded for DJ Moore with the Bears.

Tate talked about wanting to also go to the Saints, knowing he could make an impact there, and he would get a chance to play with former Ohio State receiver Chris Olave. With the Saints last season, Olave was a part of the former Buckeyes group that went off early on, but an injury late kept him off the field.

The pairing of Olave and Tate could be one opposing defenses don't want to see, as Tate knows how to play with a speeding receiver that can make outrageous catches. Tate could be that slant guy that the Saints need to pull pressure off of Olave next season.
