After the end of the 2025 season, the Ohio State basketball team lost multiple players to the Transfer Portal. In fact, they lost three guards almost right away. That is becoming a top priority for the Buckeyes to fill in what will be a critical season for head coach Jake Diebler.
Diebler has already added one guard in the portal to help fill the sudden void at that spot. The Ohio State Buckeyes added Justin Pippen to the roster. He will help give them more playmaking, although they need more scoring. That doesn't mean that Ohio State is done using the portal to bring in guards.
One of the top forwards in the portal still has Ohio State as one of his final schools. Ohio State needs another forward after Devin Royal hit the portal, presumably to UConn. Still, Ohio State needs to add another one to fill out the roster. It looks like they might get one from Notre Dame.
Jalen Haralson has Ohio State basketball in his final list of schools
Former Notre Dame forward Jalen Haralson has Ohio State as one of his final schools, according to CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein. Haralson scored over 16 points per game while adding four rebounds. He shot over 51 percent from the field, which is excellent as a freshman.
Haralson also has North Carolina and Tennessee in his final list. It seems likely that he will end up playing for the Tar Heels, but the Buckeyes still have some hope. Ohio State would love to add a high-scoring guard to the fold, especially one who is so young.
The Buckeyes still need to add a starting-caliber center and a few more guards. Adding Haralson would be a nice pairing with Pippen, especially if John Mobley Jr. ends up getting drafted. That would be a great start to portal season for them.
