The Ohio State football program is in a critical recruiting period. The time during Spring practice right before the Spring game is a critical time to bring recruits to campus so they can see how the team prepares for next season. Once the Spring Game rolls around, they will have a lot of recruits visiting, too.
Ohio State hasn't had a lot of players commit to them in the 2026 recruiting class yet. They have just five commitments for the class so far, but it's very early when it comes to the recruiting cycle. There are still a lot of recruits that they would love to get on campus this summer.
One recruit who is a top priority for them has now visited the Buckeyes twice. They have had Jackson Cantwell on campus for a visit twice. He just finished up his second visit in Columbus and he loved what he saw yet again. The Ohio State Buckeyes are trying very hard to land him.
Jackson Cantwell liked his second visit to the Ohio State football program
Cantwell isn't just the top offensive line recruit in the country, but he's the best overall recruit in the country. Tyler Bowen has come to Columbus and has hit the ground running when it comes to recruiting. He has an opportunity to do something that his predecessor never did.
Bowen has a shot to bring in a five-star recruit. Justin Frye wasn't able to bring in the best recruits up front while he was with the Buckeyes. He clearly was able to develop the kids he did have, but the knock on him was that he wasn't a great recruiter. Bowen is known for his recruiting.
There is still a long way to Bowen landing the 6'8 300 pound tackle from Nixa, Missouri. He has all of the best programs in the country trying to bring him in. Ohio State has some steep competition if they want him to step foot on campus this time next season.
