The Ohio State football program has been trying to flip some recruits in the 2026 recruiting class after having a poor start to the class. If Signing Day were today, this would be the worst recruiting class that Ryan Day has signed since he took over as head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
With Penn State firing James Franklin, the Buckeyes might be looking to add some of the recruits who are jumping ship after that happened. That isn't the only program they are looking to poach from, though. In fact, a four-star recruit has just scheduled a visit to Columbus.
Jay Timmons, a four-star cornerback recruit from Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, is committed to Florida State right now. Despite that, he has decided to schedule a visit with the Buckeyes, giving them a chance to change his mind and commit to coming to Columbus instead.

Timmons will be visiting the Buckeyes for their game against Penn State on November 1st. That will give Ohio State a chance to show him why he should be in Columbus instead of Tallahassee.

After beating Alabama early in the year, Florida State has hit a massive slide recently. They have lost three straight games, and the wheels look like they are about to completely come off. If that happens, Timmons might decide to look harder at other schools. That's where Ohio State comes in.
Tim Walton has done a pretty good job of recruiting corners in the last couple of years. Right now, the Buckeyes only have one cornerback in the 2026 recruiting class. They need to add some more depth at that spot, and getting Timmons to flip would be a solid win for Walton.
Of course, there are other schools that are still circling Timmons. Florida State is likely going to make a big push to keep other schools from poaching their recruits, including him.
