The Ohio State football team will get a much easier opponent for their Week 2 matchup as Grambling State will visit the Shoe. This should be a breather compared to the Texas Longhorns, whom the Ohio State Buckeyes took down 14-7 in Week 1. Now, the new number one team in the country gets to play some depth.
This is a game that will likely get out of hand relatively quickly. There will be a lot of backups for the Buckeyes who will see the field in the second half, including a lot of freshman. These three freshman are likely going to see some snaps late in this game.
1. Bo Jackson
Redshirt running back Bo Jackson is going to see some time in the second half of this game. The Buckeyes are going to want to keep CJ Donaldson and James Peoples fresh for the rest of the season, so this is a good time to see what the young running back has.
Jackson has impressed in practice and was good during the spring game, as well. He is going to get an opportunity to run the ball a lot in the second half once the backups and third-string players start to populate the field for the Buckeyes.
2. Devin Sanchez
Week 1 was not the debut that Devin Sanchez was hoping for. The true freshman got burned for a big pass play in his first collegiate game and didn't look very good in the other reps he got. Playing Texas is a tough first game for the start cornerback, so he shouldn't be judged by what he did in that game.
Sanchez should get more reps in this game, and he might even get those reps with the starting defense, as he did against Texas. He needs more reps to develop, and this is a great game for him to get some of those reps. He is going to be a really good player some day.
3. Tavien St. Clair
The number-four overall recruit in the 2025 recruiting class did not get any snaps in Week 1, as expected. Ryan Day has said that he is progressing as the third-string quarterback, but he's still a long ways away. He was not around for the Spring, so he's still trying to learn the offense and get chemistry with receivers.
St. Clair might get some snaps in the fourth quarter, but Lincoln Kienholz will get the majority of the backup snaps in this game, though. Still, this might be the first time that the majority of Ohio State fans will get to see him this season. It might be the best chance they get, too.
