3. The Ohio State Buckeyes will never trail vs. Texas
I have been watching film from both teams all week long. I've studied both Texas and Ohio State intently. While the Longhorns are a very solid team that has only lost to Georgia this season, Ohio State is on another level right now. Texas can't stop them.
The only team who can stop Ohio State at this point is Ohio State. Chip Kelly found that out with his terrible play-calling against TTUN. He has called each CFP game aggressively since then. There is no reason he won't do the same in the Cotton Bowl. He'd rather go down swinging than with something left on the table.
Because of that mentality, I don't see the Buckeyes trailing at any point in this one. They will come and score right out of the gate, and Texas won't be able to recover. They might tie them eventually, but they won't be able to catch the Buckeyes. Texas' offense isn't explosive enough to do that.
The Ohio State defense isn't going to slip up. They haven't slipped up since they played Oregon in the regular season. They fixed those issues and didn't let Oregon burn them again. Even if the Longhorns put in Arch Manning at some point, it won't be enough to keep up with the Buckeyes.
Ohio State will take on Texas in the Cotton Bowl at 7:30 pm ET on Friday. We'll see if they are able to play like the team we've seen in each of the last two games.
