The Ohio State football program will be replacing a lot of contributors from the national championship-winning team in 2024. They had 15 guys get NFL Combine invites, so that tells you how many great upperclassmen that title team had.

Now that those upperclassmen are gone, the Buckeyes have an opportunity to get more playing time for some young guys who are talented. Ohio State had a lot of older guys who were keeping some young players who have a lot of talent from seeing the field.

That is especially true at the wide receiver spot. Emeka Egbuka is off to the NFL, and that will allow some other receivers to move up the depth chart and get more playing time. Brandon Inniss is one player who will be fully unleashed now that he will be the third receiver on the depth chart.

Ohio State football player Brandon Inniss will be fully unleashed this season

Inniss wasn't able to fully show what he could do last year because he was behind Egbuka, Jeremiah Smith, and Carnell Tate. While Smith and Tate are back, Inniss will likely move into that third receiver spot. Smith and Tate are so good that they will garner a lot of attention, leading to more opportunities for Inniss.

Last season, as a sophomore, Inniss had 14 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown. He might triple that reception production now that he will be one of the starters. His yardage is going to increase by the same amount, too. With Brian Hartline as the new offensive coordinator, passing is going to be the main part of this offense.

Inniss is a really good player. Coming out of high school in 2023, he was the best receiver in South Florida. There have been a lot of really good receivers to come out of that part of the country, including Smith. Inniss is hoping to come close to the same kind of production Smith was able to have last year.

Of course, that production will be a product of the quarterback play as well. Whichever QB wins the job will have to put the ball in the right spots.
