This has been the craziest coaching carousel in college football in quite a while. There are now 10 Power 4 head coaching jobs available around the country. The Ohio State football team has been looking around, seeing if it can poach any recruits from these programs in turmoil.
They have sniffed around Penn State after they decided to fire James Franklin. There could be a couple of players that they look at from Florida after Billy Napier was let go, as well. Now, Brian Kelly is the latest head coach to be fired after a lackluster start to LSU's season.
With Kelly no longer running the program, the Ohio State Buckeyes can take a look at some of the 2026 recruits that they have committed to the program. One recruit whom the Buckeyes were in hot pursuit of might now be back on the market with Kelly gone.
The Ohio State football team could flip Deuce Geralds from LSU
Deuce Geralds, a four-star defensive lineman from Suwanee, Georgia, is someone that the Buckeyes could get back in on. Ohio State was in his final five before he decided to commit to the Tigers, so Larry Johnson could circle back and try to get him to flip his recruitment.
Right now, the Buckeyes have four defensive linemen in this class. They certainly would be happy to add Geralds if they can before Signing Day rolls around. This is a player that Johnson had been recruiting for a while, as Geralds visited last year during the IU game.
Ohio State has been trying to flip various recruits from other programs who still have coaches. Now that there are multiple programs that have fired their coaches, they are looking to pounce on the opportunity to add to help their 2026 class with just a couple of months before Early Signing Day.
There's a chance that Ohio State might try to get Geralds on campus for another visit, but that remains to be seen. Regardless, he should be at the top of the list for the recruits that LSU has in their class.
