The Ohio State football team has a bye week already, just four weeks into the season. It's a well-timed bye because it coincides with the end of the non-conference portion of the schedule. The Buckeyes went through that portion of the schedule 3-0 and ranked number-one in the country.
With the Ohio State Buckeyes having their first bye week, we look at the three most impressive players that the Buckeyes have had so far, including someone who has solidified himself as a first-round pick when next April rolls around.
1. Carnell Tate
Carnell Tate has arguably been the best receiver the Buckeyes have had so far. Jeremiah Smith is certainly helping Tate get open with all of the attention he's getting, but Tate has produced solid numbers in all three games that Ohio State has played so far.
Tate has a receiving touchdown in every single game so far this season. He has two acrobatic touchdown catches against Texas and Grambling State. So far, he has 12 catches for 219 yards and those three touchdowns. Not many people outside of Columbus saw those kinds of numbers coming this year.
2. Arvell Reese
Perhaps the most impressive player on the defensive side of the ball has been Arvell Reese. Reese stepped up into one of the starting linebacker spots after Cody Simon was drafted by the Cardinals in April's NFL Draft. He doesn't look like a first-time starter, though.
Reese has been all over the field, being an absolute menace. Even when he's not making the tackle, he's forcing plays to go the direction he wants them to go. This season, he already has 20 tackles, two sacks, and two passes knocked down.
3. Bo Jackson
While some Ohio State running backs have struggled to run the ball, freshman Bo Jackson has not. He looks like he is about to grab the starting job by the horns after another great performance against the Bobcats on Saturday. He looks like the best back the Buckeyes have.
Jackson didn't see a single snap in Week 1 against Texas, yet he still has some great numbers. In just two weeks of action, Jackson has 18 carries for 217 yards and a score. The former four-star recruit looks like he is going to be the next great Ohio State running back.
All three of these guys have been very impressive so far. Now, they have to sustain it into Big Ten play.
