The Ohio State football team proves they are a national title contender
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team came into Saturday's matchup against a top-five IU team ready to prove something. They were ready to prove that they were a true national title contender. This was the first of the three top-five games that they have played this year that was at home.
That's exactly what they were able to do. After allowing Indiana to score on their first drive, the Ohio State Buckeyes were able to stop them from doing any sort of damage. The Buckeyes were able to win the game 38-15 after a really strong start to the second half.
The Buckeyes only allowed 53 total yards in the first half, and 70 of them came on the first drive. That meant that the Buckeyes allowed negative yardage the rest of the way in the second half. That showed that Ohio State is ready for the College Football Playoff.
The Ohio State football team shows they are ready to win a national championship
Ohio State ended up allowing just 151 total yards in this game. With that, they showed that they have a defense that is ready to win a national championship. This is the most prolific offense that Ohio State has faced since the Oregon game, so they have shown that they are a much-improved team since that game,
Will Howard was also great in this game. He finished 22/26 for 201 yards for two touchdowns and one interception. The interception wasn't even his fault because Jelani Thurman dropped the pass. He dropped it and it went right into an IU defender's arms for the pick.
Ohio State didn't let that faze them. After a rough first half, they were able to turn things around and win the game. That's the mark of a team that can win it all. Now it's on to The Game.
