The Ohio State football program doesn't have a chance to land one of the best quarterback recruits in the 2026 recruiting class. They won't be adding a five-star recruit to this class from that spot, as they have done in each of the previous two classes. That's just fine with them.

With Julian Sayin and Tavien St. Clair both on the roster, they are set at the quarterback spot for the next couple of years. It's okay if they end up having a gap when it comes to quarterback talent in a recruiting class. Still, they like four-star recruit Luke Fahey a lot.

Fahey is a quarterback from the state of California who is a lower-rated four-star recruit. He will be making his recruiting decision Thursday night, and the Buckeyes feel as though they have him locked up. He could be the quarterback that Ryan Day takes in this class.

Luke Fahey could become the Ohio State football team's 2026 quarterback recruit

The Ohio State Buckeyes like what Fahey can bring to the table. He stands at six feet and 185 pounds, so he's not a huge quarterback. That's a big reason why his rating isn't as high as some of the other quarterbacks in this class. He doesn't have a prototypical size.

Still, he has been picking up steam in the evaluation community lately. He has a high football IQ and a very quick release. He doesn't throw many balls off target, either. Ohio State would be fine if they had to start him three years down the line if something went wrong.

The Buckeyes are fighting with Stanford and Indiana to land Fahey. He is projected to land with Ohio State, so they feel good about their standing a few hours before he makes his final choice. Adding him would be a nice recruiting win in a week where they have been hard to come by.
