When it comes to the top recruit in Ohio and his interest in the Buckeyes, the sky is not falling. Let’s all calm down because Ryan Day and his staff are still very much in the running to land Elbert Hill from Akron Hoban.

Hill created quite a stir among Ohio State fans when he announced official visits to four schools and the Buckeyes were not one of them. Some went so far as to give up on the state’s number-one player landing in Columbus. According to Hill’s father, that is not true,

"“Ohio State is still in the mix.”"

In a conversation with longtime Ohio recruiting expert Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts, the elder Hill said they will probably take in an OSU spring practice and said his son may take an official visit as well at some point. He has talked with cornerbacks coach Tim Walton as well as new defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.

Hill has visits scheduled to LSU (May 30th), USC (June 6th), Oregon (June 13th), and Alabama (June 20th). Barring someone swooping in with an earth-shattering NIL offer, I’ll be shocked if his fifth official visit is not with Ohio State.

In addition to being the top recruit in Ohio, the 5’10”, 175-pound Hill is a five-star prospect who is the number three cornerback in the country according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. He’s ranked as the 34th player overall.

Here is something to keep in mind. A year ago, Kurelic put in his prediction for Hill to choose Ohio State. Now, that may have been some time ago, but Kurelic has not changed that prediction and he is someone who very much has his finger on the pulse of OSU recruiting. The only way I’ll give up on Hill becoming a Buckeye is if Kurelic changes his pick.
